This is a short-term position for 1-month full time (August-September 2017)

Bridging the Gap in HIV Testing and Care for Children in Zimbabwe
(B-GAP Project)

Responsibilities and job functions

  • Recruiting and gathering informed consent from study participants;
  • Conducting focus group discussions and semi-structured interviews;
  • Translating and transcribing focus group discussions and semi-structured interview recordings and hand-written notes using appropriate technology;
  • Liaising with other members of the study team and relevant implementing partners;
  • Maintaining accurate data collection records;
  • To carry out other tasks which may be necessary from time to time appropriate to the post, as determine by the line manager

Training, skills, and experience

  • A university degree or other qualification (preferably in social sciences, anthropology, education, public health or related field) or relevant experience is required;
  • Excellent verbal and written Ndebele, Shona and English fluency;
  • Familiar with and knowledgeable of the local communities where research is being conducted;
  • Previous research experience; Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and general Internet and E-mail;
  • Experience in qualitative interviewing; leading focus group discussions and conducting in-depth interviews;
  • Experience in the use of qualitative research techniques and methods, and relevant software packages;
  • Experience interacting comfortably with youth;
  • Ability to interact effectively with a variety of community members and research participants;
  • Experience discussing sensitive topics, including those related to HIV
