Job Description
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the positions of RESEARCHER which have arisen within the Judicial Service Commission. The Commission is a dynamic organization that comprises competent and professional staff.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Researcher will assist the Head of Judicial Training Institute of Zimbabwe (JTIZ) to:
- Conduct research on legal issues relating to the Judicial Service Commission’s operations.
- Prepare written opinions, working papers and reports on legal issues of interest to the Judicial Service Commission
- Undertake scholarly review of legal literature, documents, instruments and other material legal research on specific issues and render advice accordingly
- Draft legal documents such as contracts. agreements, opinions and briefs and prepare memoranda, letters and other documents as may be required
- Write legal briefs that present arguments based on research findings
- Represent the department on committee meetings, conferences and other workshops
- Create and maintain a database of legal research material for use by judicial officers and other members of the Judicial Service Commission
- Prepare and produce compendia of various training programmes undertaken by the Judicial Training Institute of Zimbabwe
- Undertake baseline studies to evaluate the performance of members of the Judicial Service Commission and come up with training needs
- Execute the Annual Wok Plan of the Judicial Training Institute of Zimbabwe
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Head of Judicial Training Institute Zimbabwe
COMPETENCE AND SKILLS FOR POST:
The person must possess:
- A law degree of a good Class preferably 2.1 or better from recognized University
- At least 2 years proven experience in the legal research
- Post graduate qualifications will be an added advantage
- Proficiency in the use of computers:
- Good command of written and spoken English.
