Job Description
Our client in the animal production industry is searching for an experienced, organised and diligent Ruminant Nutritionist and a Monogastric Nutritionist to be responsible for creating and balancing rations to ensure all dietary needs are met for animals under their supervision.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Re-evaluate the chemical and nutritional value of feeds, feed supplements, grass and forage for commercial animals
- Formulate diets and rations to maximize growth, reproduction, health and performance
- Assess the relative nutritional and economic value of feeding systems
- Research the effectiveness of dietary regimes
- Conduct animal-based studies and laboratory trials
- Liaise with producers and clients to understand their targets and objectives, and the specific needs of the market
- Monitor feed formulations to meet quality performance and animal health standards
- Expand existing ranges of animal food products and develop new ones
- Support commercial teams in producing and launching new products
- Maintain expertise in nutritional trends and keep up to date with regulatory changes
Educational Qualification:
- Tertiary level Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in Animal Nutrition.
- An overseas qualification is an added advantage.
Skills and Competencies:
- An understanding of the scientific basis of nutrition
- Familiarity with analysing data and writing reports
- The ability to conduct research in a safe, ethical and reliable manner
- The capability to formulate and communicate ideas
Experience:
- A minimum of 1 year experience in an Animal Nutritionist role or similar.
- Overseas working experience is an added advantage.
