Job Summary:

As the Camp Manager, your role is to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of our camp facility. You will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations, supervising staff, organizing programs, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for all guests. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic camp environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing all camp operations, including guest check-in and check-out, staff scheduling, program coordination, facility maintenance, and administrative tasks.
  • Developing and implementing camp policies, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Supervising camp staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure that they are delivering exceptional customer service, following camp protocols, and maintaining a positive and inclusive camp culture.
  • Designing and organizing camp programs, activities, events, catering to different age groups and interests, in order to provide an engaging and memorable camp experience for all guests.
  • Managing camp budgets, track expenses, and ensure financial targets are met by monitoring and controlling costs.
  • Maintaining effective communication channels with guests, staff, and external stakeholders in order to provide regular updates, address concerns, and build positive relationships.
  • Overseeing the implementation and adherence to health and safety protocols, including emergency procedures, risk assessments, and equipment maintenance, to ensure the well-being and security of all guests and staff.
  • Managing camp inventory, supplies, and equipment, coordinating purchasing, receiving, and inventory control activities as needed.
  • Recruiting, hiring and training camp staff on service standards.
  • Conducting performance evaluations and implementing disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Stays up to date with industry trends, attend relevant professional development opportunities, and contribute to ongoing improvements and innovations in the camp operations.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Tourism & Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of (three) years’ work experience in a camp environment is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership, supervisory, and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, with a focus on detail and quality.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with campers, families, and staff of diverse backgrounds.
  • Should be a holder of a valid Class 4 Driver’s License.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office Suite, and other relevant computer applications.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is required, with additional outdoor/remote area certifications being advantageous.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as dictated by camp needs.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform active tasks, sometimes in adverse weather conditions.
  • Caring and nurturing demeanor, with a passion for working with children and creating positive experiences.
