LORIMAK AFRICA HAS BEEN CONTRACTED BY CHEMPLEX CORPORATION TO ASSIST WITH THE RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION OF A SUITABLE CANDIDATE FOR THE ROLE OF CHIEF PROCUREMENT EXECUTIVE
RESPONSIBLE TO: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
ROLE PROFILE:
The Chief Procurement Executive is a Senior Executive responsible for managing, coordinating and execution of the Group Procurement and Logistics activities in line with the Public Procurement & Disposal of Public Assets Act and the associated Regulations. The role reports directly to the CEO and ensures practical realization of the company vision, fostering a cohesive business culture. The role will be on a five (5) year fixed term contract renewable once based on performance.
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Sourcing and Procurement Strategy: Develop and implement tactical and operational strategies for the Business Unit that align with overall group objectives and the Public Procurement & Disposal of Public Assets Act. This includes compiling a comprehensive sourcing strategy, formulating category-specific plans, and ensuring consistency across sourcing initiatives.
- Logistics Optimization: Design and execute inbound and outbound logistics plans to optimize the flow of goods and materials. Monitor global logistics performance to identify areas for improvement and enhance efficiency.
- Supplier Management: Initiate sourcing projects, solicit supplier proposals, and conduct negotiations to award contracts to the most suitable suppliers. Oversee supplier performance, maintain strong relationships, and ensure compliance with contract administration activities.
- Performance Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor and evaluate sourcing projects and logistics operations to ensure they meet objectives, deliver expected benefits, and identify opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction.
- Governance and Compliance: Implement and uphold Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHSS) policies and procedures, ensuring good governance, risk management, and compliance within logistics and warehouse environments.
- Work Environment and Culture: Maintain a positive work climate that energizes employees, minimizes disruptions, and maximizes productivity, ensuring clear guidelines for procurement activities and establishing sourcing requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- A university degree in Economics/ Business Studies/Procurement
- An MBA or MBL is a must have qualification.
- A minimum of three (3) or more years of experience in executive leadership roles
- Effective communication and presentation skills to convey operational issues to stakeholders.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards
