Job Description
Impact Hub is looking for a dynamic experienced Driver to join our team. Candidate must meet the requirements listed below and be able to adequately fulfill the job description.
At Impact Hub Harare, our success depends on people, productivity, and procedures. The Driver will be tasked with facilitating and coordinating smooth transportation/movement of all staff and goods in operation facilities. This includes ensuring proper maintenance of the assigned vehicle, adhering to Impact Hub Harare policies and procedures and Zimbabwean traffic laws. With approximately, this position will demand a highly motivated, detail oriented individual who will be able to solve challenges as they arise. S/he will be required to be an active team player who will improve current systems from knowledge and experience gained from previous work experience.
Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Drives office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel
- Collects and delivers mail, and other communications from and to the post office, government agencies and other institutions;
- Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, check oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres etc., performs minor repairs and arranges for other repairs to ensure that the vehicle is kept clean;
- Ensures that in the event of an accident, IHH rules/policies and traffic regulation are followed;
- Carry out banking/financial and other office out-door messengerial duties;
- Keep note and timely report, in writing, to the administrator on the vehicle routine maintenance/service.
- Ensure that the vehicle has enough fuel before embarking in transport service or heading for a field trip.
- Monitor that the fuel consumption remained within the litre/km rate estimate for the vehicle and report any irregularities.
- Keep correct/proper and neatly recorded vehicle log sheets and submit to the supervisor on a monthly basis for review, checking and feedback.
- Ensure that vehicle is used for the intended/assigned purpose in accordance with the prior authorisation given by the supervisor.
- Ensure that the vehicle safety belt is functional and used by self and the passengers onboard at all times.
- Follow-up vehicle related issues with the police and insurance companies as per instruction
The ideal candidate must meet the following requirements:
- Minimum five years working experience in a similar role within the NGO industry.
- Valid defensive driver’s license
- Basic auto mechanic skills
- Strong knowledge of locations of interest in Harare, Manicaland and Matabeleland Province
- Strong ability to communicate in English Language
- Ability to communicate in both basic Shona and Ndebele is an added advantage
- Strong Interpersonal skills
