Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the vacant post of FACILITIES AND PROJECTS MANAGER that has arisen within the Zimbabwe Manpower Development Fund (ZIMDEF) – an equal opportunity employer.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Champions the formulation and implementation of appropriate engineering, estates, works and projects strategies in support of the Fund’s mandate
  • Leads in the development and implementation of works to include project scope, budget and time schedules
  • Designs building and equipment specifications and develops plans that meet the required specifications and needs of the Fund
  • Oversees the formulation and control of departmental operational budget in liaison with the finance department
  • Arranges expert consultancy services required for the Fund’s projects, such as architects, engineers, surveyors, or designers
  • Oversees work of architects, engineers, contractors, and other external service providers
  • Serves as point of contact between the Fund and external contractors for Fund projects
  • Develops preventative maintenance plans and ensures schedules are followed so as to preserve value
  • Ensures proper close-out of all projects, including final punch list and close-out documents
  • Manages the Real Estate portfolio and ensures growth of the same through recommending viable rental rates, negotiating and enforcing lease agreements
  • Supervises, guides and leads all staff in the division to ensure maximum productivity in compliance with policies, guidelines and procedures
  • Prepares routine and ad hoc reports as may be required from time to time

Qualifications, Competencies and Work Competencies:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or any equivalent degree
  • Corporate membership to a relevant professional body e.g. ZIE
  • At least 5 years’ relevant experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft office applications
  • Good knowledge in electrical mechanical maintenance
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Clean class 4 driver’s license
