Organisation: Local NGO

A leading network of non-governmental organizations that work to promote peace, human rights and democratic governance in Zimbabwe is seeking to employ a highly motivated and experienced Finance and Administration Manager to its team.

JOB PURPOSE

The Finance and Administration Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the network. This position is responsible for overseeing the financial, administrative, and human resources functions. The purpose of the role is to ensure that the network operates effectively and efficiently while complying with local laws and regulations, and to support the network’s mission in Zimbabwe.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Designing, developing and updating financial, procurement and administrative policies and procedures that comply with statutory and donor requirements.
  • Coordinating and leading the annual budgeting and planning process, as well as monitoring and reporting on the financial performance and cash flow of the network.
  • Coordinating and leading the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and the board of directors, and implementing any recommendations or action points.
  • Managing the finance team and ensuring that they perform their tasks accurately and efficiently, such as processing payroll, managing accounts payable/receivable, preparing financial statements, and maintaining internal control systems.
  • Managing the administrative team and ensuring that they provide effective support to the organisation’s staff, programmes, projects, partners, and funders.
  • Ensuring adequate controls and management over assets
  • Overseeing the procurement function
  • Analysing financial and operational data and preparing management reports that inform strategic decision-making and enhance the quality and impact of the organisation’s work.
  • Monitors personnel development and manpower needs of the organisation.
  • Maintains staff records and the conditions of service manual.
  • Administers salaries and benefits policy of the organisation.
  • Maintains staff performance management systems.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A degree in Accounting, Commerce or Business Studies
  • A post graduate qualification such as CIS, CTA or ACCA would be an added advantage.
  • At least 5 years experience in financial accounting
  • Experience in a non-profit making organisation managing multiple grants.

SPECIFIC SKILLS /QUALITIES

  • Good presentation, communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to analyse and solve problems.
  • Computer literate and sound knowledge of accounting software.
  • Integrity, professionalism and ethical approach
  • Good public & industrial relations in dealing with staff and other stakeholders.
