Job Description

Project background

Sizimele – Action for Building Resilience in Zimbabwe, is a multi-year project designed to build resilience and well-being of 31,455 at risk households in Insiza, Lupane and Matobo districts of which over 60% are smallholder women rural farmers, 15% unemployed migrant youths and 10% vulnerable households). The project is funded under the Zimbabwe Resilience Building Fund (ZRBF). The main objective of this project is to enable recovery and enhance the resilience of at-risk smallholder farmers so that they are food, income and nutrition secure in the face of increasing multiple and chronic shocks and stressors. This initiative was identified and designed in a participatory manner with target groups, local authorities and other stakeholders to build resilience of 31,455 households directly and 125,800 men, women and children indirectly in the three districts. The project has been extended to June 2022 and is based on four major outcomes namely:

  • Communities in 57 wards have access to information for decision making on weather related shocks and relevant programmes
  • Increased crop and livestock asset base and productivity for improved food, nutrition and income security.
  • Strengthened and diversified livelihoods and incomes for local economic development of 31,455 households.
  • Integration of resilience models for systems change & new knowledge in national programmes by government, private sector and other local development partners

Under the overall supervision of the Sizimele Finance and Administration Officer, the incumbent’s responsibilities will include the following:

  • Assisting in grant management financial obligations and ensure proper support is given to FAO and programme staff in managing all projects under the ZRBF.
  • Assists with Bookkeeping and ensure all required reports are done and submitted in a timely manner
  • Assists in Administration and facilitation of special events registration and execution,
  • Assists in Procurement as per organisation manual
  • Assists with reports and minutes on finance capacity building initiative for partners and CBOs
  • Check advance payment and clear same transactions and report accordingly in Maconomy.
  • Assists in maintaining the Asset register and controlling petty cash payments.
  • Assist in managing and reconciling bank/cash and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records and provide information when required.
  • To help in the preparation of Quarterly financial reports for the donor.
  • Assists in ensuring proper documentation for all financial transactions and filing thereof.
  • Assist in logistics, launching and implementing procurement procedures and tenders in accordance with the DCA Procurement Manual.
  • Assists with reception work and general administration duties.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by FAO

Position summary

The Finance and Logistics Assistant will be assisting in the finance, administration, procurement, etc, and working closely with the Finance and Administration Officer within the Sizimele Consortium Office in Bulawayo.The Sizimele consortium is a 9-member consortium funded under the Zimbabwe Resilience Building Fund (ZRBF) project.

Qualifications

  • At least three years of study completed OR recent graduate holding a BSc in Accounting, Finance, Business, higher National diploma in Accountancy or other related professional fields preferred.
  • Good computer literacy in MS Office skills in the use of email, internet, Word and Excel
  • Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to your work; ability to work under tight deadlines. Ability to report on UNDP FACE Form and understanding of UNDP guidelines
  • Able to accurately undertake basic administrative tasks like document and information collation, filing, creating word documents, simple spreadsheets.
  • Good interpersonal and team working skills, within a multicultural setting
  • Good interpersonal and inter-organizational working experience and collaborating closely with multi-level stakeholders.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in team situations.
  • Knowledge of humanitarian sector would be beneficial
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Ndebele language is an asset
