LORIMAK AFRICA HAS BEEN CONTRACTED BY G & W INDUSTRIAL MINERALS TO ASSIST WITH THE RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION OF A SUITABLE CANDIDATE FOR THE ROLE OF GENERAL MANAGER
RESPONSIBLE TO: CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER
ROLE PROFILE:
The General Manager of G&W Industrial Minerals (Pvt) Ltd is a Senior Executive responsible for overseeing the company’s daily operations, implementing business strategies, and optimizing operational capabilities. This role encompasses the management of various functions, including Production, Engineering, Technical, Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Management, as well as Human Resources and associated procurement, financial, and sales functions to compliment Human Capital issues. The General Manager plays a crucial role in realizing the company’s vision and fostering a cohesive business culture. This position is offered on a five-year fixed-term contract, which is renewable once based on performance.
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Strategic Vision and Operations: Set and drive the company’s vision and operational strategy, ensuring alignment with short- and long-term objectives of G&W Industrial Minerals and the Chemplex Group.
- Business Strategy Implementation: Translate company strategy into actionable steps for growth, overseeing the execution of operational plans and tracking progress.
- Financial Planning: Prepare annual plans and budgets, ensuring budgeted profits are achieved while monitoring variances and taking corrective actions.
- Operational Coordination: Coordinate mining, production, maintenance, finance, safety, quality assurance, and human resources to achieve the overall business plan.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations to protect employees and the public.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Establish and maintain relationships with government, local authorities, suppliers, and customers to advance company interests.
- Performance Culture: Foster a high-performance culture by effectively managing recruitment, onboarding, professional development, and retention of staff.
- Quality Management: Direct Total Quality Management initiatives and develop systems to ensure quality standards are met, including ISO certification.
- Capital Investment Optimization: Assess and optimize capital investments to ensure strong returns on investment.
- Succession Planning: Collaborate with the COO and the Board to develop succession plans for critical roles within the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- A technical Degree such as B.Sc. Chemical Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/Mining Engineering/Chemistry / Mineral Processing / Business-related qualification.
- An MBA or MBL is a must have qualification.
- A minimum of five (5) or more years of experience in executive leadership roles
- Effective communication and presentation skills to convey operational issues to stakeholders.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards
