PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Responsible for the implementation of the grants communication strategy to meet communications, visibility and marketing objectives for World Vision Zimbabwe, its donors (WFP) and partners

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Plan for editing and writing content for a variety of internal communications (including internal monthly update reports) mediums.
  • Produce a steady flow of written and photographic resources on World Vision Zimbabwe/WFP activities for marketing purposes and use in publications and websites.
  • Organise and/or conduct training of staff on communications (branding, story writing, photography) and reporting.
  • Develop and implement a communications plan that will grow and ensure visibility of WFP work and efforts.
  • Work with senior management to ensure that World Vision’s corporate identity is implemented consistently with World Vision Zimbabwe’s programming.
  • Ensure that WFP’s corporate identity is implemented consistently within their guidelines.
  • Gather content such as case studies, success stories and news articles for editing and sharing.
  • Respond to information or resource requests from the donor and other stakeholders.
  • Assist World Vision office with the planning and implementation of local visits by stakeholders, important donors and resource gathering crews.
  • Handle any public media crisis that might arise.
  • Ensure that cross cutting themes like participation, gender, disability are mainstreamed in all internal communications work
  • Identify target audiences for messages developed with specific purposes and prepare materials, including brochures, posters, newsletter content, photographs, videos.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • A relevant degree in the field of Communications, Development Studies
  • At least three years professional experience in a communications role at a non-profit Organisation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of programming process and reporting abilities Excellent content creating skills (photography, videography, graphic design).
  • Ability to create content for various internal and external platforms including social media, success stories, reports and factsheets
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, plan and meet deadlines. Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is preferred and at least one other local language.
  • Understanding of emerging trends, technology and practices affecting the humanitarian industry.
