Job Description

Principle Accountabilities

• Oversees all financial operations, including budgeting, financial reporting, accounting, and internal controls
• Manages the finance team and ensure timely and accurate financial statements are produced
• Provides strategic financial advice to the Executive Director and Council members
• Develops and implements financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
• Manages the organization’s cash flow, investments, and treasury functions
• Liaises with external auditors and ensure timely completion of annual audits
• Supports the organization’s digital transformation initiatives by implementing financial technology solutions
• Contributes to the overall strategic planning and decision-making processes of the organization
• Develops and monitors key performance indicators to measure the financial health and performance of the organization
• Identifies financial risks and mitigation strategies
• Oversees the preparation and submission of regulatory financial reports and returns
• Collaborates with other departments to ensure financial considerations are integrated into operational and strategic decisions
• Represents the organization in meetings with financial institutions, regulators, and other key stakeholders implement appropriate

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Risk management or related.
• Degree in Accounting, Finance or related.
• A recognized professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent
• At least 7 years of senior-level finance experience, preferably in the financial services, or insurance sector.
• Strong knowledge of financial management, budgeting, and reporting in a not-for-profit or public sector organization
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights
• Proven track record of leading and motivating a finance team
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders
• Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements in the insurance industry
• Proficiency in financial software and  technology tools
