About us

Christian Aid exists to create a world where everyone can live a full life, free from poverty. We are a global movement of people, churches and local organisations who passionately champion dignity, equality and justice worldwide. We are the changemakers, the peacemakers, the mighty of heart.

About the role

This is a new temporary post to strengthen Christian Aid’s and partners’ communications outside the UK in the run up and during COP27 –  this year’s UN climate talks. The post holder will identify opportunities and produce content for traditional and new media promoting climate justice policy and messages. It will also support others to produce high-quality  written content for mainstream and specialist media, in support of climate justice and its arguments. Working across different partners and teams in Christian Aid this role will lead on media strategies for advocacy campaigns targeting national and international key influencing moments.

About you

We are looking for an excellent communicator with good attention to detail with excellent knowledge of social media platforms and tactics. Your media and/or journalist experience enables you to communicate complex and technical issues in creative and simple terms, including producing newsworthy, accurate and legally sound press releases, and appropriate social media products. Your ability to take initiative, and to work independently and proactively also enables you to work effectively in different socio-cultural contexts, being a good listener, facilitator and consensus-builder. If you have deep knowledge and understanding of climate politics to counter the climate emergency and the policy issues at play, knowledge and understanding of faith based advocacy and ability to work in French, or a major African language this is also an advantage.
