Job Description

Contract position – Fully Remote

Position description

We are currently looking for a Junior Software Developer to join our team for an ongoing project on a contractual basis to work initially on a web-based app. The position is ideal for an individual in their final year of their tertiary qualification or recently qualified (not more than 18 months)

Essential Technical Skills (a must) – you will be tested

  • Knowledge and practical use of Flutter framework
  • Knowledge and use of Google Could, Firebase and Dart
  • Understanding of serverless architecture (practical experience not necessary)
  • Knowledge and practical use of Github version control (required)
  • Knowledge and practical experience using MySQL and Amazon Web Services
  • Exposure or understanding of CI/CD workflows
  • Exposure to or theoretical understanding of Restful APIs
  • Understanding of containerisation and distributed systems (theoretical)

Desirable Technical skills (but not essential)

  • Knowledge of JavaScript, React, Node.js
  • Familiarity with UI/UX Design
  • Experience with code testing debugging tools
  • Kotlin

Soft Skills (a must)

  • Willingness to learn
  • Great team player and excellent communicator with the ability to clearly articulate your ideas
  • Problem-solving skills and a positive attitude towards learning
  • Self-drive to succeed – lots to learn. You can succeed if you have the right mindset
  • Creativity and thinking out of the box
  • Perseverance and grit

Candidates with the following will be looked upon with favour:

  • Proven track record of practical programming and getting your hands dirty – If you have a portfolio – you must share it
  • Knowledge of the Fintech space and developments in this area
  • Proven track record of self-paced learning of new skills and keeping track new techs – completion of certifications would be desirable – Udemy, LinkedIn, Hackerank etc.

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology (or due to complete in 2022)
