Job Description

Introduction

A position has arisen at the Zimbabwe Mercantile Exchange (ZMX), to be filled by a Marketing, Publicity and Communications Officer. The Zimbabwe Mercantile exchange operates a commodity based warehouse receipt system and offers a trading platform for agricultural commodities.

Job Description/Responsibilities

  • Managing the image and reputation of the company.
  • Contributing on the implementation of ZMX marketing strategies.
  • Build an effective working relationship with all relevant stakeholders involved in the commodities exchange sector.
  • Supporting the marketing manager in overseeing the department’s operations.
  • Organizing and attending marketing activities or events to raise brand awareness.
  • Managing the company’s social media platforms and monitoring clients’ feedback.

Mandatory Qualifications, Personal Qualities, Skills, Experience and Competencies Required (Person Specification)

  • A degree in Journalism, Media Studies, Public Relations, Marketing or equivalent;
  • A Master’s degree, or equivalent level of academic and professional experience in a discipline of Media studies, Marketing and Publicity is an added advantage;
  • At least 3 years’ experience of working in Zimbabwe or a similar context, on marketing, publicity and advocacy, liaison or communications;
  • The ability to deliver quality work on time in a complex environment;
  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills, with the ability to confidently engage in policy and strategy discussions;
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, and experience of producing high quality briefings;
  • Demonstration of effective team-working and the capacity to develop strong working relationships within ZMX, farmers, agro-processors and other external colleagues;
  • Ability to employ information communication technologies in the promotion of projects;
  • Academic and professional experience in a discipline relevant to agriculture, agricultural economics, rural development and livelihoods is an added advantage.
