Job Description

The Paediatric HIV Care and Treatment and Viral Hepatitis Medical Officer will be reporting to the National ART Coordinator and in collaboration with the other officers within the AIDS and TB Unit. The Officer will support the implementation of high-quality, comprehensive, and robust Paediatric HIV care services towards the achievement of the 95-95-95 Fast Track targets for paediatric and adolescent sub-populations. The medical officer will also coordinate the viral hepatitis program in consultation with other relevant departments within the Ministry of Health and Child Care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Paediatric HIV Care Technical Working Group (TWG) activities;
  • Coordinate and support implementation of paediatric HIV care services nationwide to improve the uptake, coverage and quality of Paediatric and Adolescent ART program;
  • Collaborate, with and support HIV Care implementing partners in Pediatric HIV care related activities;
  • Participate in the regular supply chain medicines TWG meetings and field visits to track the availability of Paediatric ARV medicines and related commodities at all levels in consultation with the department of pharmacy within the MOHCC;
  • Coordinate policy formulation, implementation and resource mobilization for the Viral Hepatitis Elimination program in conjunction with the Epidemiology and Disease Control Directorate within the MoHCC;
  • Coordinate Viral Hepatitis Technical Working Group (TWG) activities;
  • Monitoring program performance and providing at least quarterly progress updates at various fora.

Person Specification

  • A degree in medicine (MBChB degree or equivalent);
  • Master of Public Health;
  • At least three (3) year’s clinical experience with clinical degree program;
  • 3-5 years’ experience managing Healthcare programs at the national and/ subnational level and experience in paediatric HIV management;
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, interpersonal written and oral communication skills with an ability to work independently and collaboratively.
