REPORTS TO: Operations, Safety and Security Manager
DUTY LOCATION: Bulawayo
About CNFA and Amalima Loko:
CNFA is a US-based non-profit nongovernmental organization (NGO) that works to stimulate economic growth and improve rural livelihoods in the developing world by empowering the private sector through five core capabilities: (1) Productivity, Food Security and Nutrition; (2) Input Supply and Farm Services; (3) Economic Resilience and Rapid Recovery; (4) Value Chain Development; and (5) Volunteer Technical Assistance. CNFA assists smallholders in increasing household-level food security and nutrition through improved agricultural practices, introduction of new varieties, diversification of crop production, food preservation and storage, development of farmer-based organizations (FBOs) and strengthened linkages to markets. CNFA has worked in Zimbabwe since 1999 to enhance agricultural productivity through input supply systems.
Position Summary
The Procurement Officer is a key member of the CNFA operations team, under the Operations, Safety and Security Manager, the Procurement Officer is responsible for the following duties: –
Responsibilities of the Procurement Officer:
- Implements the procurement process at each stage:
- preparation of documents (RFP, RFQ and Contracts);
- identification and invitation of suppliers
- evaluation of offers and comparative analysis
- negotiation with bidders
- Draft and periodically update the Country Purchasing Plan useful to categorize and differentiate the different purchasing methods in line with the procurement manual.
- Drawing up an annual calendar for planning purchasing procedures;
- Monitors compliance with contractual clauses in collaboration with the departments concerned;
- Build and maintain pre-qualified vendor list
- Proper filing of all procurement documents.
Other Duties
- Follow-up with the Finance Department on all accounts payables to ensure timely payment and send proof of payments to suppliers
- Perform any other activities as instructed by the Operations Manager or Chief of Party
- Maintain audit ready files
Qualifications
- University degree in Purchasing & Supply, Logistics & Transport with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience in procurement management, etc. CIPS is a distinct advantage.
- Clean Class 4 driversâ licence and class 2 will be an added advantage
- Defensive driving certificate.

- Computer literacy
Languages
- Fluency in spoken and written English is essential. Ability to speak and understand IsiNdebele and/or other languages spoken in Matabeleland North is preferred.
