Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill in the position of PROCUREMENT OFFICER that has arisen in a Mining Company in the Procurement Department.

Reporting to: The Procurement Manager

THE JOB

The successful applicant will be, among other key challenging aspects, responsible for: –

Maintenance of good relationships with all suppliers for the benefit of the division on availability and pricing of goods and services.
Evaluation of vendor rating of suppliers’ bases on performance aimed at achieving better performance from all suppliers used by the business.
Development and execution of new and improved procurement strategies across all channels of purchasing.
Manage every aspect of the supply chain and ensure efficiency.
Institute policies and procedures for collating and reporting key metrics that will reduce expenses and increase productivity.
Perform cost analysis and set appropriate benchmarks.

THE PERSON

The ideal candidates must have the following minimum qualifications: –

Degree in Purchasing and Supply Management or equivalent.
Professional Diploma in Purchasing and Supply – CIPS will be an added advantage
South African work permit.
At least 3 years’ experience in a similar position.
Proficiency in the use of computerised purchasing systems and experience with SAP.
Have excellent communication and negotiating skills.
Working knowledge of Environmental Management System ISO 14001 and Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems OHSAS 18001 and NOSA.
Clean class 4 driver’s license.
