Job Description
The National Competitiveness Commission [NCC] is a statutory body established by an Act of Parliament [Chapter 14:36], and falls under the purview of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MoIC). The Commission is mandated to facilitate the creation of a competitive environment for Zimbabwean business through the development. coordination and implementation of key policy improvements required for domestic, regional and global competitiveness. The Commission seeks to consider suitably qualified candidate for the position of (Part-Time) Procurement Officer to be based in Harare offices.
Job Overview and Responsibilities
The Procurement Officer reports to the Executive Director of the Commission. The main responsibility of the Procurement Officer will be to administer all the procurement processes of the Commission.
Duties & Responsibilities (Key Result Areas)
- Procurement of various goods and services for the organisation.
- Building strong working relationships both internally and with key suppliers as well as maintaining and updating their information.
- Ensuring that the procurement process is in line with Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act.
- Sourcing quotations through various procurement methods.
- Vendor rating and managing the organisation’s contracts with various suppliers
- Preparing tender documents and facilitating the opening of tender box.
- Advertising of tenders in the relevant media in line with the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act.
- Gathering market intelligence to avoid exposing the organisation to unworthy suppliers.
- Preparing plans for the purchase of equipment, services, and supplies
- Following and enforcing the Commission’s procurement policies and procedures.
- Reviewing, comparing, analysing, and recommending products and services to be purchased.
- Managing inventories and maintaining accurate purchase and pricing records.
- Providing secretarial services to evaluation, Procurement & disposal committee meetings and preparing procurement reports

Required Qualifications and Experience
- CIPS Diploma or equivalent.
- Master’s in Purchasing and Supply an added advantage.
- A minimum of 3 years of which 2 years should be in public procurement and contract administration.
