Who We Are?

With over 20 years of experience, PSI/Zimbabwe now registered as Population Solutions for Health is looking for candidates who hold the requisite qualifications and experience to apply for the exciting position of Regional Management Development Specialist – Bulawayo *1 (Full Time).

Reporting to the Deputy Program Director – INTEGRATE, the Regional Management Development Specialist applies behavioral science expertise and insights to increase ownership, accountability, and capacity of HIV prevention programming within the Zimbabwean setting.

Your Contribution – Key Responsibilities.

  • Facilitates deep dives to understand the behavioral barriers across stakeholder groups (experience in decision- and journey-mapping would be valued) at sub national level, to increase uptake of HIV Biomedical interventions as part of Health Systems Strengthening.
  • Designs behavior-change interventions to address barriers to uptake and ownership of VMMC and HIV biomedical prevention management and coordination roles.
  • Facilitates the testing and iteration behavioral interventions for district health leadership and stakeholders in 27 supported districts.
  • Facilitates the rollout and scale up of management development and associated capacity strengthening interventions.
  • Deploys a suite of readiness tools for guiding and measuring the meaningful transition of program management and coordination responsibilities to subnational health system partners and counterparts.
  • Provides recommendations for scalable solutions to increasing ownership, management, and coordination of VMMC and broader HIV biomedical prevention interventions at sub national level, including VMMC RBF.
  • Participates and facilitates the engagements, design, review and roll out of VMMC and HIV biomedical prevention pre-service and in-service training.
  • Participates in the development and roll out of Results Based Financing mechanism for VMMC.
  • Works with the Integration specialist and the District HIV Prevention Officers, to facilitate the contracting of PHEs, DHEs and facilities in the VMMC RBF, as part of management and stakeholder development.
  • Participates in the development of learning agenda for Management Development, Sustainable financing, and HRH development.
  • Prepares monthly, and annual project reports.
  • Develops learning briefs for dissemination at national and global fora.
  • Represents PSH in the sub national HIV Prevention Partnership Forum and Technical Working Groups.
  • Documents and tracks action points from meetings.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Deputy Program Director.

What are we looking for?

  • A Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in social sciences (for example, economics, psychology, sociology, public health, development studies, or related degree).
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in the field (either behavioral sciences, public health and/or working in developing countries).
  • Experience in designing and implementing behavioral science solutions, preferably within public/government structures.
  • Prior experience with building community competency to improve health, and participatory methodologies for engaging beneficiaries in planning and implementing local-level activities.
  • Experience measuring qualitative behavioral science activities.
  • Ability to manage behavioral interventions independently.
  • Willing to adapt to shifting program priorities and needs.
  • Willingness to travel across Zimbabwe to priority districts, at least 50% of time.
  • Valid class 4 drivers’ license, at least two years old.
