Who We Are?

With over 20 years of experience, PSI/Zimbabwe now registered as Population Solutions for Health is looking for candidates who hold the requisite qualifications and experience to apply for the exciting position of Research and Learning Officer – Harare *1 (Full Time).

This position will primarily focus on the implementation of PSH’s Operations Research and Learning Agenda focusing on developing/updating and implementation of operations research, advanced data analysis, and documentation and dissemination of research findings and key learnings generated from routine and research data.

Your Contribution – Key Responsibilities.

  • Works with Research and Learning Manager and Project Leads to develop/update Annual Operation Research Plan and Learning Agenda.
  • Leads on consolidation of MRCZ documents for studies requiring MRCZ approval.
  • Leads on development of data collection tools and analysis plans for all internally driven operation research.
  • Supports Research and Learning Manager to develop Dissemination Plan.
  • Supports dissemination of Annual Operation Research Plan and Learning Agenda.
  • Supports the Research and Learning Manager on implementation of the Annual Research Plan and Learning Agenda to achieve set learning goals.
  • Ensures compliance to research ethics and adherence to research protocols during implementation of studies.
  • Trains and supervises Research Assistants.
  • Ensures that evidence generation minimum standards are followed, including ethics review, documentation, and reporting.
  • Ensures collection of high-quality data and its security, confidentiality, and privacy at all levels.
  • Leads on basic and advanced analysis including modelling of routine programs data to answer learning questions and any other emerging quantitative insights needed from routine data.
  • Leads on analysis of operations research data.
  • Ensures that operations research consultants comply with operations research protocols on analysis, and documentation.
  • Supports routine monitoring data quality checks, analysis, and reporting as required.
  • Contributes inputs and technical expertise in support of knowledge products generation.
  • Supports preparation of presentations for internal and external dissemination of op research findings and learning questions analysis outputs.
  • Represents PSH in relevant TWGs disseminating findings and lessons learnt.
  • Contributes to knowledge management.
  • Supports project specific capacity building for documentation and dissemination including success stories, learning briefs, abstract, blogs, and peer reviewed manuscripts.

What Are We Looking For?

  • Honours Degree or higher in public health, epidemiology, statistics, economics, behavioural sciences, or a related field, with emphasis on both qualitative and quantitative research methods in HIV or related health field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with progressively increasing responsibility on designing, implementing, and assessing large scale health programs and operations research work.
  • Demonstrated scientific and technical writing skills.
  • Strong statistical analytic skills using STATA.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and presenting oral abstracts at national, regional and/or international conferences.
  • Evidence of past success stories, learning briefs, blogs, best practices is a distinct advantage.
  • Skills in Knowledge Management, and Documentation and Dissemination of Health program information.
  • Ability to apply statistical sampling methodologies in population-based research.
  • Clean class 4 driver’s license, at least 2 years old.
