We are looking for corporate finance, investment banking, modelling, valuations, and transaction diligence professionals to join our team. The Strategy and Transactions team which provides clients with the financial and strategic transaction assistance to ensure the success of their transaction. Our teams assist clients throughout the entire transaction process.

Your key responsibilities

As an Assistant Manager, you will be part of a team helping our clients determine the right deal to do, and then assist them in doing the deal right. Our team works to add value to our clients through structuring, deal identification, mergers, acquisitions and to understand profit drivers and trends, challenge assumptions of future performance, and assist with purchase agreements and post-closing transaction matters. Our teams assist clients throughout the entire transaction process. We work as part of a regional team and some travel may be required.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Participate and play a role in engagements related to acquisitions or divestments by private equity investor groups and strategic corporate players.
  • Ensure smooth running of a deal from origination to completion, anticipating the client’s needs and concerns, potential risks and how to mitigate these.
  • Draft standard documents for deal execution such as Teasers, Information Memoranda, process letters/offer letters
  • Prepare and/or review of financial models to support the strategic and value drivers of a transaction and ensure that these are analysed appropriately in the model.
  • Analyse financial/operational results of companies through analysis of operational accounting records and conducting interviews with management.
  • Commercial – as part of the team you will regularly advise businesses on valuations issues with regards to acquisition or divestitures and provide fairness opinions on transactions and restructurings
  • Identify and quantify IFRS issues as they relate to due diligence and valuations
  • Prepare/evaluate pro forma financial information.
  • Analyse carve-out issues, as applicable relating to a buy-side or sell-side projects
  • Identify issues for purchase price reductions, deal structuring or deal termination
  • Identify post-acquisition/divestiture action steps
  • Evaluate effects of seasonality on cash flow requirements for businesses as part of a deal evaluation process
  • Perform industry and company research
  • Correlate due diligence findings with client valuations and manage expectations of service
  • Develop people including supervising staff effectively, providing constructive feedback and training

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Economics, Law or Engineering
  • Relevant Master’s Degree and/or professional qualification such as CA(Z), ACCA, CFA
  • A minimum of five years related work experience in banking, corporate finance, private equity, valuations, modelling, business analysis
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Dedication to teamwork
  • Strong work initiative and the ability to adapt to new challenges and ideas.
  • Experience working with BI tools such as Power BI, Alteryx, Tableau, Spotifire, or others would be an added advantage
  • Willingness to team and learn.
  • Demonstrated record of solving complex problems and completing challenging projects
