Position Summary

Reporting to the IT Manager the Systems Developer Assistant will work closely with the Digital Health & Program Management Systems Developer to support various OPHID teams through the design, development, and management of OPHID’s applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement high-volume and low-latency applications, required for mission-critical systems.
  • Work closely with all stakeholders to design and develop user interfaces to internet/intranet applications
  • Document system process flows and agree (sign-off) with user department
  • Develop secure OPHID Applications
  • Maintain existing software systems by identifying and correcting software defects
  • Provide all software updates
  • Ensure all hardware specifications meets application requirements
  • Adding new features to existing applications
  • Research and recommend new technological trends and technologies to application development
  • Research on security tools, on databases, operating systems and networks that impacts on application development and performance
  • Support users by developing and maintaining documentation
  • Document all system process flows
  • Provide End User Training
  • Document and maintain a database of system errors and solutions

Person Specification

  • Degree in Information Technology Systems or Computer Science
  • Software development certification such as Java an advantage.
  • At least one (1) year recognisable application development experience preferably in Java
  • Knowledge of Android application development inclusive of flutter a distinct advantage
  • Familiarity with concepts of MVC, JDBC, and RESTful
  • Good understanding with code versioning tools (such as but not limited to Git and CVS)
  • Knowledge of continuous system integrations
  • Experience in strategic data management, analysis and use.
