Job Description

Who We Are?

With over 20 years of experience, Population Solutions for Health (formerly PSI/Zimbabwe) is looking for candidates who hold the requisite qualifications and experience to apply for the exciting position of Theatre Assistant – Harare (Full time *1).

Job exists to ensure cleanliness of the site is maintained every time and to assist in performance of quality male circumcision procedures in the theatre.

Your Contribution – Key Responsibilities

  • Sweeps, mops, damp dusts and autoclaves all office surfaces.
  • Segregates, disposes, and incinerates waste.
  • Loads and offloads stocks and equipment.
  • Prepares the theatre bed for male circumcision procedure by disinfecting each bed after use to ensure infection prevention is maintained.
  • Gives instruments and positioning of clients.
  • Provides post-operative care and support to all clients after male circumcision.
  • Relieves receptionist at the site and outreach for registration of clients for male circumcision.
  • Documents client weight, dosage and VMMC procedure on the client intake record for (CIR).
  • Completes procedure book in theatre.
  • Orders daily stock requests.
  • Photocopies VMMC documents.
  • Sensitizing potential VMMC clients in workplaces and communities.
  • Undertakes payment of bills for the site when there is anything due for payment.
  • Purchases office consumables and petty cash items for the site when there is need.
  • Checks on all windows, doors, lights and water taps when knocking off duty so that there are no chances of break-ins at the site after hours.

What are we looking for?

  • At least 5 ‘O’ levels.
  • Certificate in Nurse Aid (Red Cross).
  • One year working experience in a similar role.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  •  Knowledge of office management skills.
